Started in 1970, Anthology Film Archives is internationally renowned as one of the very few genuine places for Avant-garde and Independent cinema. It hosts a full program of classic and contemporary cinema retrospectives and new works by major independent filmmakers, premieres and special screenings of features and documentaries in two theaters at the landmark Second Avenue Courthouse in Manhattan’s Lower East Side. Anthology hosts among others the prestigious Havana Film festival, the New York Underground Film festival and the Eugene Ionesco Film festival.

“Anthology Film Archives, our faithful if neglected repository of memory, feeling, and lost selves...” -Georgia Brown, Village Voice

“Anthology Film Archives is one of the few places that concentrates on this aspect of film history... it's so crucial, we should all do our best to support Anthology.” -Martin Scorcese
